Pay to activate service in vacation queues

چکیده

We study a vacation queueing model where an arriving customer, upon finding the server to be on vacation, is offered opportunity pay fee instantaneously end server's which referred as pay-to-activate-service (PTAS). If no one utilizes PTAS, service will automatically resume when system's workload reaches critical level. investigate customers' equilibrium strategies: (i) joining or balking and (ii) if joining, accepting PTAS rejecting in response such mechanism; we show that strategies exhibit both avoid-the-crowd (ATC) follow-the-crowd (FTC) types of behavior. Our results indicate adoption efficient improving system performance (e.g., revenue throughput) demand volume intermediate. also discover that, selecting appropriate queue-length information disclosure policy, provider has trade off between collecting higher through throughput, because revealing impact aforementioned two metrics opposing directions. Finally, compare our new setting other common mechanisms including regular queues pay-for-priority queues.

Optimal balking strategies in single-server queues with general service and vacation times

In many service systems arising in OR/MS applications, the servers may be temporarily unavailable, a fact that affects the sojourn time of a customer and his willingness to join. Several studies that explore the balking behavior of customers in Markovian models with vacations have recently appeared in the literature. In the present paper, we study the balking behavior of customers in the single...

Serial Connection of Two Independent Queues with General Bulk Service and Vacation in Unit II

This Paper analyses a queuing model in which two type of customer units, one of single service (Unit I) and the other of bulk service (Unit II). Unit I has only one exponential server, which server singly. In Unit II, there are ‘c’ exponential server which serves par alley by general bulk service rule. These two units are connected in series for service but separated by a buffer of finite size ...

Analysis of State Dependent Vacation Queues with Threshold Gated Service Policy

In this article, the authors introduce a simple approach for modeling and analyzing a SII G / / 1 queue where the server may take repeated vacations. When a busy period ends, the server takes a vacation of random duration. At the end of each vacation, the server may either start a new vacation or resume service. If a queue is found of less than n customers, the server will always take a new vac...

A factorization property for BMAP/G/1 vacation queues under variable service speed

This paper proposes a simple factorization principle that can be used efficiently and effectively to derive the vector generating function of the queue length at an arbitrary time of the BMAP/G/1/ queueing systems under variable service speed. We first prove the factorization property. Then we provide moments formula. Lastly we present some applications of the factorization principle.
